Medisoft Product Description

Item# 13 Medisoft Electronic Claims: McKesson RelayHealth or Electronic Claims DIRECT ===>

Electronic claims significantly reduce the amount of time a practice waits to be paid for their services. On average, electronic claims are paid in half the time of paper claims. Electronic claims improve payment speed in two ways: First, the mail system is avoided. An electronic claim can arrive at a carrier's office within 24 hours and be ready to be paid by their computer. Contrast this with the time it takes for the post office to deliver the mail and data entry staff at the carrier's office to enter the claim information! Second, insurance carriers give priority processing to electronic claims. Medicare processors cut two weeks off their payment time to give providers the incentive they need to send claims electronically!

Electronic Claim Processing Options

MediSoft products offer options for submitting claims electronically:

    1. Clearing houses accept many different types of claims and will even print paper claims for carriers that cannot receive claims electronically.

    2. Direct electronic claims modules let you submit claims directly to selected insurance carriers, saving submission fees.

No matter which option you choose, your insurance claims will be paid more quickly. Some options even offer claim editing capabilities to reduce errors that cause carrier rejections.

1. McKesson RelayHealth EDI Services

McKesson RelayHealth EDI is the only option that is integrated with the Medisoft Claims Management (V14.1). This option allows you to send claims in the ANSI format (not a print image), which is HIPAA compliant directly from inside your medisoft. The claim status then gets updated automatically.

Mckesson RelayHealth EDI allows you to send your claims and retreive reports through the internet! (NO MORE dial up modems!)
Mckesson RelayHealth offers a complete package of EDI Solutions

2. Direct Electronic Claims are as Easy as Paper

You have a second option for your electronic claims, the Electronic Claims Direct Module. Billing data is entered into MediSoft, then is used to print paper claims or submit claims electronically. No additional data entry is required -- Just select the Electronic Claims menu option!

Carrier-supplied software works differently than MediSoft, requiring extra time to learn and use. Claim information sometimes must be entered a second time to use carrier-supplied software. As a result, Free Electronic Claims Software Isn't really Free! MediSoft Direct Claims modules on the other hand work inside MediSoft, using the same familiar menu structure and commands.
    • Carrier Tested and Approved
    • Works Inside MediSoft
    • No Data Reentry
    • Usually No Per-Claim Fee

Currently Available Direct Claims Modules

Following are currently available MediSoft Direct Claims modules. Availability of the E.R.A. Auto Pay, a Medisoft product for automatically applying payments based on Medicare's electronic remittance advice, is noted in the ERA column. Due to recent Insurance Carrier changes, the following list may not be up to date. Please contact us at (888) 987 - 9335 for more details and the latest module availability.

MedicServe recommends this product for medical practices and medical billing services, which see a concentration of patients who are insured by a particular insurance carrier. Direct insurance claims can save the "per-claim fee" which is charged normally by claims clearing houses. The Mckesson RelayHealth clearing house option on the other hand allows you to have a very efficient and integrated claim management, auto posting and electronic statement operation. Mckesson RelayHealth has very competitive rates, 39 cents per claim for Medisoft users, and they maintain a very reliable clearing house option.

You may decide to combine the Mckesson RelayHealth option with the Electronic Claims Direct module. If your office has a large relative concentration of patients covered by the ECD module insurance, then it may be cost effective to choose the ECD module for that insurance, and the Mckesson RelayHealth clearing house option for all your commercial claims. Please check the chart above to see if a direct claims module exists for your particular area and insurance carrier(s). If it is not there, then the Mckesson RelayHealth option is our recommended choice.

Please note: The ECD module requires the Patient Accounting program; it is not a stand alone software application.
